2. Read Colossians 1:15-20. What strikes you about this passage? What does it mean to you that Jesus is the “image of the invisible God?” Why is this so important? How does it separate Christianity from every other religion?
3. On Sunday I talked about Jesus being God’s final word; that is, that we can very easily read the Bible and miss the point (Jesus). Are there any passages in Scripture that you struggle with? If so, share. How does knowing Jesus help in understand them?
4. Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble.” What’s more, he made it clear that if we want to follow him, we will suffer with him. Why is suffering unavoidable? How does righteous suffering conquer sin and evil? How does knowing that Jesus went before us in suffering comfort us?
5. If the transfiguration is a foretaste of the resurrection, what does this tell you about what’s in store for those of us who know and love Jesus? Read 2 Corinthians 4:7-18. Discuss.
