2. Jesus is the one true King, but he is the King on a cross. Do you think we’ve forgotten how shocking this notion actually is? What does this mean to you personally?
3. On Sunday, I talked about 3 reasons why Jesus had to suffer. First, to demonstrate unconditional love and to teach us to love each other in the same way. Second, to satisfy God’s justice. Can you think of any other reasons why Jesus had to suffer?
4. Explain in your own words what it means for you to find your identity in Christ. Why does Jesus insist that we must lose ourselves to find our identity in him? Why is it important to pick up our cross (i.e. to die to ourselves) daily? What spiritual disciplines can help you do this?
5. Why is hope such an important part of a Christian worldview? What are some tangible signs of the Kingdom’s power that you see these days? Do you think that Jesus’ return is imminent?
