5 Questions–October 8th

    1. Do have any special Thanksgiving traditions (foods that you eat, games that you play, sports that you watch, etc.)? Share. What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food?
    2. Brene Brown wrote: “To love someone fiercely, to believe in something with your whole heart, to celebrate a fleeting moment in time, to fully engage in a life that doesn’t come with guarantees – these are risks that involve vulnerability and often pain. But, I’m learning that recognizing and leaning into the discomfort of vulnerability teaches us how to live with joy, gratitude and grace.” Essentially, Brene is saying that every relationship is a risk. They can lead to either pain or joy. Share some of the most painful and joyful relationships in your life.
    3. Sunday’s message focused on the story of four friends bringing their paralytic friend to Jesus. If you need a refresher, read Mark 2:1-12. Who do you most identify with in the story right now? The paralytic? The four friends? The crowd? Share.
    4. Why is honest self awareness (understanding my own baggage, shortcomings, etc.) so critical to forging healthy relationships? Who is someone in your life that helps you become aware of your own shortcomings? Why is prayer essential in this regard as well?
    5. On Sunday, Derrick said, “If you really want to reset your relationships, you have to start by resetting your relationship with God?” Do you agree? Read 1 John 4:7-12. Discuss.
