Monday Musings

Hi all. Good to back after a few weeks away on holiday. A few quick hitters this week.

  • Jan Laarman was (miraculously!) in church on Sunday given that he underwent major surgery on Friday. The fantastic news is that the surgery went very well, and the doctors believe they got all the cancer. Praise the Lord! What’s more: no more radiation or chemo. He will transition to just being monitored. Jan and Renae wanted me to thank you for all your prayers, meals and support. It was much appreciated. Please pray for continued healing and health!

  • If you love to worship, next Sunday is going to be fantastic. In the morning, we have some special guest musicians from Kings helping to lead worship. And then in evening at 7 PM (but come early for free pizza at 6 PM) we have REVIVE, our once a month gathering of worship and praise among all of the supporting churches in our church planting group. Every Riverite I talked to who has attended a REVIVE service loved it. So, if you haven’t been yet, plan on attending and getting blessed.

  • A reminder that we are taking a special collection to fill up our Community Assistance Fund next Sunday morning. Please give generously!

  • Our staff and Executive are holding a retreat this week on Friday and Saturday. We covet your prayers!

  • The River is planning something very special for our Good Friday service. It will involve participatory stations that will make the events of Jesus’ passion come alive in a fresh way. If you are willing to help be involved in the planning of this event or simply lead a station, contact me. Volunteers needed.

  • The River is putting together a small worship choir for our Easter service. If you are interested in participating, contact Nathan. Else, this Sunday morning, we’ll give you a chance to join the choir after the service.
