Monday Musings

Wow, yesterday was such a rich day. The appetizer: a great morning worship service. The soup/salad: First Sunday Fellowship—good soup and good company. The entrée: a fantastic anniversary worship celebration at MosaicHouse in the evening. I know the roads were bad and many of you who planned on attending decided differently, but for those who came it was one of those historic/epic River worship experiences. Nathan/Janessa/Steve/Darrell/Raymond and the rest of the team (some from other churches) did SUCH a good job. For those of you who don’t know, it was the gathering of all 6 church plants: The River, MosaicHouse South and East, Avenue Church, Neighbourhood Life, and our newest church plant (coming in 2019) in Ft. Saskatchewan. Every church had 3 minutes to share some stories of what God was doing in their midst and then we opened the floor to other people sharing stories as well. In the interest of time and everyone getting home safely, we could only tell a few stories, but everyone was encouraged to share their own experiences over a piece of birthday/anniversary cake afterwards. We also got a chance to really bless the Ft. Saskatchewan plant both in prayer and financially. As we drove home, Sharon and I felt so full, so blessed to be a part of this amazing thing that God is doing in Edmonton. To HIM be the glory!

A quick FYI. My brother-in-law Pastor Ed Top (Sharon’s brother) is preaching this week at The River. He’s a really good communicator (uniquely funny and interactive), so plan on being in church on Sunday. I will be preaching in Leduc as part of my responsibilities with Resonate Global Missions.

Another FYI. On Saturday, November 25th, we’re going to do our annual decorating of the church for Christmas. We’re going to run it just like we did last year. Everyone comes around 2:30 PM in the afternoon. We make the place look fantastic for Christmas. And then at 5:30 or so, we share a spaghetti dinner together. We’ll supply the dinner. We want to make this a family friendly event, so bring your kids and they can either help or run around the church while you help. This year we want to set up a special Christmas photo booth at the back of the auditorium so that all the gals who participate in “Christmas With Style” can have a special Christmas picture taken.

Hot off the press: Baby Kiera Steenbergen is home from the hospital. What an answer to prayer! Praise the Lord and thank you to everyone who blessed their family during this challenging time.
