So the first week of our summer series on the Book of Proverbs. As I mentioned yesterday, let me really encourage you to read the book of Proverbs as we’re doing the series. If you haven’t already done so, consider downloading the ap and keeping up with the messages as you’re driving back and forth to the lake or the campground or the cottage. As promised, here’s the link to the YouTube video I showed yesterday. It’s a GREAT intro to the book of Proverbs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzmYV8GNAIM
Our Canada Day celebration is coming together nicely. What I love about this event is it’s a collaboration between various community partners including Heritage Pointe Community League, Blackmud Community League, Ellerslie Rd. Baptist Church, South Pointe and The River. A real feeling of community spirit has emerged around this event.
This year, besides the amazing band “Sweet Vintage Ride”, we have a Tae-Kwan-Doh demonstration team, a Korean drumming group and the Chinese Lion Dancers. Incidentally, if you missed the Chinese Lion Dancers last year, do yourself a favor and don’t miss them this year. They’re fantastic. Your kids will be particularly mesmerised by them. Pastor David tells me the Korean drummers are fantastic as well, so I’m really looking forward to seeing them.
This year, we’re having food trucks instead of doing the food ourselves (big relief!). So there will be hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, kettle corn, ice cream, and tons of other highly caloric food. Most of the trucks have INTERACT, but some don’t, so bring some money. In case you’re wondering, 10% of the food truck’s profits go back into various community projects.
If you’re not doing anything on Friday, we’ll be setting up starting around noon. Feel free to come out and help. There might even be a t-shirt in it for you.
