Monday Musing with Ps. Derrick

What a full weekend this has been at The River. Canada Day was really quiet, but it was a lovely service. As I reflected what to share as we embark a new year as a nation, as a church, and as a family, the thought of “Fearless Pursuit” came to mind so I decided to share my heart on it.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…” Psalm 23:4

As believers, we at times are compared to eagles, the truth is eagles learn to not have fear in the face of adversity. They allow the pressures of adversities to propel them higher. We need to be like eagles and possess a fearless spirit in spite of our adversities.

Too often we allow the threats of failure, the possibilities of getting it wrong or making mistakes rob us or stunt our potential to succeed or overcome. The truth is, getting it wrong or making mistakes is a natural way of life and simply means you miss taking the right and more excellent way.

Besides, things are never as bad as they first appear, the opportunities missed most often presents itself to us again, but usually, we are unprepared or unaware. Quite often they come at a time when we are too busy focusing on the wrong. We have to see the opportunities presented, we can overcome, though it often takes greater strength, resolve, drive and courage.

No one ever drowns by simply falling into water, they drown by their choice to remain there. We have the power of choice flowing from God’s grace. We can either get up and get out or believe the idea of defeat and drown in what you are facing. Victory most often comes to those who show faith in God in spite of inner or outer agitation or angst within the soul.

There has to be an intentional resolve, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will show fear of no damming thing. God is with me!

Shadow in this sense is tantamount to image created to deceive. Here is an interesting way to view it from an acrostic sense I.M.A.G.E – Illusions Masking/Manifesting As Giants Everywhere.

These shadows are mostly found in dark places or areas of life, to steal your joys and pursuit, but Light, is with you, to illuminate and reveal the truth as to who you are what you can and will accomplish.

Be encouraged today, you have amazing ideas and insights that could have tremendous transformational effects on life, profitability, and success.

Fear is not good, and definitely not of God, it causes us to be inactive, crippled, and unproductive and make us appear incompetent which opens us up for criticisms.

    Be resolved that:
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I purpose to fear no… evil, task, man, or opportunity, for God, my light hope, and direction is for, in and with me.”
LET’S BE FEAR-LESS IN ALL OUR PURSUITS STARTING today. Be blessed and a blessing.

My prayer psalm for you to pray this week is Psalm 30:6-12

When I felt secure, I said, “I will never be shaken.”  Lord, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed. To you, Lord, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy: “What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness? Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help. ”

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
