Monday Musings

If you were in church yesterday, you saw the video we made to promote the men’s retreat. Pretty funny. If you haven’t seen it. I just posted it on The River’s Facebook page. You can view it there. By the way, while your there, if you haven’t LIKED The River yet, please do. It’s really important as it allows our Facebook boosts to reach even more people. River men….we had over 20 guys sign up yesterday for what’s going to be an amazing men’s retreat on May 25-27th in Canmore, but we WANT YOU! Remember, the cut off for signing up for the retreat is May 29th. You can sign up by CLICKING HERE!

Say, I’m looking for a volunteer driver for KIDSPACES, our after-school program that is reaching out to newcomer families to Canada in southwest Edmonton. We’re looking for a person or persons with good driving records that can drive a van at 3 PM on Mondays and Wednesday and/or around 5:30 PM on those same days. This is a real tangible way to bless your community! E-mail me at theriver@shaw.ca if you’re able to volunteer or if you know someone who can. Thanks!

We had a fantastic newcomers luncheon yesterday after the service. We had almost 25 people upstairs including one young couple that had come to The River for the first time yesterday and jumped right in. It was chance for people to meet our staff, hear a little bit about the vision of The River and it’s ministries and to socialize. Several folks I met commented on how they felt very welcomed at The River, so to all of you who are avoiding been cliquey on Sunday morning and reaching out to newcomers, WAIT TO GO! By the way, we still need more hospitality people at The River, especially to help with clean up after worship services. If you’re able, talk to Derrick.

Loved the violin in church yesterday! Thanks to Kristen, Janessa and Sharon for blessing us with that song. It really made communion that much more meaningful. Thanks also to all our worship leaders, sound and AV people who make our worship services possible each week. Thanks for your faithfulness!
