Monday Musings

I checked Facebook this morning and saw a bunch of wonderful pictures of some Riverites who participated in the MS Bike Tour 2018. For those of you who don’t know, this annual event is a two day bike tour all the way from Leduc to Camrose—that’s a lot of Ks!— in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. We had 10 Riverites participating and 2 volunteering. From what I can discern, they raised almost $15,000! Jan, who works for PCL, captained the team that raised the most money of all the teams—$113,000! Way to go guys! You ROCK! I’ll post a few pics on The River’s Facebook site for everyone to enjoy!

Sharon and I had a chance to go to the Bryan Adams concert on Friday with Ed and Sharon Versluys. It was a fantastic concert! We had a great time listening to the plethora of hits that Bryan has produced over the years. He played all the oldie goldies and everyone at Rogers Place was singing and having a great time. What a Canadian treasure he is. But, as good as that was, let me say this: it didn’t hold a candle to the worship and singing this Sunday morning. There was such a wonderful atmosphere of praise and prayer. The Spirit was really moving. May God continue to lead us as a church into deeper and more profound expressions of worship. To HIM be the glory!

I was driving around in my car last week and CBC Radio had a very interesting documentary about a church in downtown Montreal that is doing something very similar to what we’re doing at The River; that is, striving to be a thriving church inside a community centre. CLICK HERE to be linked to the article and the radio documentary. Especially listen to the radio piece—it’s really compelling. I’d love to know what you think?
