What a full weekend this has been. On Thursday, I found out about the passing of Connor Thompson and so I spend Thursday night laughing and crying and remembering with their family. It was such a rich time. On Friday night, we had the Alpha Leadership Team barbecue at our place and it was such a memorable time. I found out that the Gansekole’s can make a delicious sangria. Beyond the fun, I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through this ministry this Fall. On Saturday morning, Sharon and I were involved in the Riverbend Soccer Tournament. Sharon coordinate the food service for the entire event on behalf of Brander Gardens ROCKS—the community organization she works for. She’s so amazing. I found myself in Tim Horton Donuts scooping ice into coolers so that various beverages would be cold for the next generation of World Cup stars. And then, at 7:45 AM on Sunday morning, I got a call that there was a flood at Southpointe. So, I raced down there to avert disaster. Thankfully, we got things figured out, thanks to some amazing volunteers that showed up early. And then, we had this wonderful worship service in which we welcomed newcomers, commissioned Nathan, baptized people and celebrated the good things that God has been doing in The River over the last year. And then, we had this awesome pig roast and picnic in which the sun was shining, and meat was amazing and the kids were eating snow cones and jumping on the jumpy things. And then, later on Sunday, I got to go out and be with the folks that are planting our new church in Ft. Sask. and watch baptisms and eat hamburgers. I laid my head down on the pillow last night with a little heat exhaustion to boot and said, “Lord, what an amazing weekend. To you be the glory.”
Amid the plethora of things that were happening yesterday, let me emphasize the importance of raising the 15K that we need for the Zambia Partnership. It’s such an amazing partnership and if you want more info on it, go to our website. Here’s the deal: we have to A. Raise 15 K for the partnership; and, we have to B. Make sure The River can continue to function over the summer season. So, let me declare this summer to be the “summer of giving”. Let’s all give generously to the work of God in our midst. I will be the first. I pledge beyond my regular tithe to The River, Sharon and I will give $1000 to the Zambia partnership. Now, we only have $14,000 to go.
BTW, you will have a guest Monday Morning Musings author over the next 3 weeks. Derrick is stepping up to share his pastoral heart for a few weeks. I will return to active duty July 23rd.

My prayer psalm for you to pray this week is Psalm 63:
On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.
