Well, if I didn’t get a chance to say it in person, Happy New Years everyone! I trust you had a wonderful Christmas season and that you had a chance to celebrate Christ’s birth and spend time with friends and family. Sharon and I just brought Janessa to the airport this morning as she is returning to study at Trinity Western University in Langley. We’ll miss her, as we will our other children who returned to school earlier, but after 3 weeks of eight people in the house (I don’t even want to know what our President’s Choice bill will be!), it’s also nice to return to normal.
Well, GITM (God in the Movies) is up and running. My kids roasted me for saying “Big Friendly God” at the end of the message. “Unbelievably corny,” they said. In hindsight, I agree. Actually, I came up with that one as we were watching the last clip, which just goes to show that sometimes it’s better to quit while your ahead. Overall, I thought it was a strong Sunday. I was especially moved by the stories of those being baptized and professing their faith.
Did you watch the Golden Globes last night? Well, if you didn’t get the message yet that “La La Land” was a movie worth watching, 7 awards last night should certainly convince you. I can guarantee you that this movie will be part of GITM next year. I also love Meryl Streep’s speech. So poignant. So appropriate. Of course, Donald Trump couldn’t help tweeting a response. Apparently, in his opinion, Meryl is over-rated. Right. That’s why she received the Cecil B. DeMille award. What a small man.
