We have all read in the bible about unleavened bread, but what was its significance and why was it so important? According to the book of Exodus, this bread was the symbol of the Israelites' haste when they escaped from slavery in Egypt - there was no time to waste waiting for bread to rise and they had to have something to eat for their long journey ahead. During Passover (starting on April 15), the Israelites would eat this bread for seven days to always remember the victory that God gave them to enter into the promised land.
It was like the kind of bondage we experienced over the last 2 years, in a way, we were slaves to a pandemic that had control over us, we were no longer free to do whatever we wanted.
To add to the special meaning of this Easter season , we are holding a baking bee on April 14 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Mosaic House, to make unleavened bread for communion at our Holy Saturday service.
